This Bed & Breakfast is located a few miles west of Louisburgh, County Mayo, in a really nice, quiet setting. To get there, if you're driving through Louisburgh from Westport, go all the way through town and turn right at the intersection near the end of town (straight would bring you to Killadoon down near Mweelrea, and a left turn puts you on the main road to Leenane past Doo Lough -- a great drive, but that's another story). I think this is the road to Roonagh Quay, from which you can get a ferry out to Clare Island. Keep on the road, more or less straight (don't take the turnoff for the beach -- unless you want to visit it of course! We checked it out too and it's worth a visit), for about 3 or 4 miles, and near the top of a hill (past another house that mysteriously has "FIX ME!" painted on one wall :-) you'll see the Three Arches house on the right.
The proprieters are Patrick and Mary Sammon. They have a young son who was only too glad to play with our 8-year old, and they even went with Mr. Sammon to watch the cows being milked one evening. We were quite pleased with Mrs. Sammon's helpfulness and we ended up staying a second night. I liked the view southwards from the house -- you can see the whole expanse of Mweelrea mountain, and (I think) the Partry mountains further east. Inishturk was clearly visible too on the days we were there.
I have no connection with Mr. and Mrs. Sammon, other than being a (very) satisfied customer. If you wish to reserve a room, you can either make a booking through any Bord Fáilte (Irish Tourist Board) office, or you can contact them directly via mail at:
